Set Up Auto-Updating Wallpapers
Your iPhone will automatically download and set a fresh LifeGrid wallpaper every morning.
✓Requirements
- • iPhone running iOS 16.4 or later
- • Shortcuts app installed (comes pre-installed)
- • A LifeGrid account with a generated wallpaper token
Create Your Wallpaper
First, go to the Create page and configure your wallpaper:
- Enter your date of birth
- Set your life expectancy (default is 80 years)
- Choose a view mode (Life, Year, Month, etc.)
- Select your iPhone model from the device dropdown
- Pick a theme and customize other options as desired
Generate Your Token
Click the "Automate" button (rocket icon) in the action buttons below the preview.
This opens a modal with your unique wallpaper URL. This URL contains all your settings and will always generate an up-to-date wallpaper.
Download the Shortcut
In the automation modal, click "Download Shortcut".
This will open a pre-configured Shortcut that:
- Downloads your wallpaper image
- Sets it as your lock screen wallpaper
⚠️ If prompted, allow the shortcut to be added from an untrusted source (this is normal for third-party shortcuts).
Test the Shortcut
Before setting up automation, test that it works:
- Open the Shortcuts app
- Find "LifeGrid" shortcut
- Tap it to run
- Your wallpaper should update within a few seconds
✓ If your lock screen updated, the shortcut is working!
Create Automation
Now set it to run automatically every morning:
- Open Shortcuts app
- Tap the "Automation" tab at the bottom
- Tap "+" in the top right corner
- Select "Time of Day"
- Set your preferred time (e.g., 6:00 AM)
- Choose "Daily" for repeat
- Tap "Next"
Link the Shortcut
- In the action selection screen, search for "Run Shortcut"
- Tap "Run Shortcut"
- Select your "LifeGrid" shortcut
- Tap "Next"
Configure & Finish
- IMPORTANT: Toggle OFF "Ask Before Running"
- Toggle ON "Notify When Run" (optional - shows a notification when it updates)
- Tap "Done"
🎉 That's it! Your wallpaper will now update automatically every morning.
Troubleshooting
Shortcut doesn't run automatically?
Make sure Low Power Mode is off, and that "Ask Before Running" is disabled in the automation settings.
Wallpaper doesn't set as lock screen?
Go to Settings → Shortcuts → Advanced and enable "Allow Running Scripts" and "Allow Sharing Large Amounts of Data".
"Untrusted Shortcut" error?
Go to Settings → Shortcuts and enable "Allow Untrusted Shortcuts". You may need to run any shortcut once first.
